David J. Ores, MD

Dr. David Ores is a general practitioner of medicine and civil surgeon in the Lower East Side of New York City.
A graduate of Columbia University School of Medicine, ‘Dr. Dave’ has been providing the Lower East Side community - where he lives and works - with general medical care, immigration exams, and resources to live a healthy life for over 25 years.
Widely known as the the ‘country doctor’ of the Lower East Side, his practice emphasizes the traditional values of a personalized, doctor-patient relationship, and modern medicine to deliver zero-barrier care.
Dr. Dave’s life-long commitment to accessible medical care for anyone in need has led him to initiate both NYC-based and nation-wide programs such as Fresh Start, which provides free tattoo removal for formerly incarcerated people, former gang members, and victims of human trafficking, the Restaurant Worker Referral Program (RWRP), whose mission is to provide free access to healthcare for uninsured workers in NYC’s restaurant and service industry, and Pay What You Can Wednesdays (PWYCW) based out of his office at 189 E 2nd St, created for persons who do not have health insurance and have medical questions, concerns, or need assistance. Most recently, Dr. Ores has piloted a blood pressure monitoring and hypertension reduction program in conjunction with the Uniformed Fire Officer’s Association of the FDNY and Mount Sinai Medical Center.

His ongoing efforts have resulted in numerous awards and recognition, including being named ‘Badass Doctor of the Year’ by Forbes Magazine and profiles in the New York Times, GQ, Huck Mag, The Village Sun, and American Snippets.
